Simple Tech Tips for Modern Remote Life

5 things I always carry in my bag for office days (from a hybrid remote worker)🎒

For many of us, we spend some days working from quiet home office, coffee in hand. Other days commuting to office , trying to remember which desk is free and why my desk chair suddenly feels like a punishment.

If you’re part of the hybrid workforce — splitting time between home and office — you know how chaotic it can feel to shift gears. Here are the 5 things I never leave behind on office days. Small, powerful, sanity-saving.

🎧 1. Noise-cancelling headphones (because open-plan offices are war zones)

Whether it’s chatter, slamming doors, or a surprise birthday song for someone you’ve never met — good headphones are non-negotiable. I use mine for deep focus, Zoom calls, and protecting my mental bandwidth.

🔌 2. Charging gear + multi-adapter

Power outlets are rarely where you need them. I carry:

  • A compact multi-device charger
  • A USB-C adapter (for HDMI, ethernet, etc.)
  • A small power bank in case my usual desk is MIA

🖱️ 3. Ultra-portable wireless mouse and keyboard

Office keyboards often feel like they were designed to discourage joy. I bring my own slim wireless keyboard and mouse — both lightweight, Bluetooth-connected, and easy on the wrists.

I plug in and feel at home within seconds, no matter where I sit.

🧍‍♂️ 4. A foldable laptop stand (a.k.a. portable ergonomics)

This tiny upgrade does wonders for my posture. It lifts my screen to the right height and transforms any flat desk into a proper workspace. Add your keyboard and mouse, and you’ve got a full setup that doesn’t punish your spine.

📒 5. Notebook & pen (because sometimes low-tech still wins)

Whether it’s quick meeting notes, sketching out ideas, or writing a passive-aggressive to-do list… a real notebook is still the fastest, lowest-distraction way to capture ideas.

🎁 Bonus item: Belkin SoundForm ClearFit Open-Ear Earbuds

Walking to the office while trying to drown out traffic and avoid becoming traffic is a delicate balance. My current favorite fix? These genius little open-ear earbuds from Belkin.

The SoundForm ClearFit sit snugly around my ears — no pushing into the canal, no weird pressure — and let me listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks while still hearing what’s going on around me.

They’re comfortable, safe for the street, and surprisingly powerful for their size.

I’ll be sharing a full review soon, but for now — let’s just say they’ve earned a permanent spot in my bag.

💡 Final thoughts

Hybrid life is all about flexibility — but that doesn’t mean you should feel unprepared. These five (+1) items have helped me stay focused, productive, and just a little more comfortable when I step out of my home office bubble.

They’re light, reliable, and make the transition from home to office feel more seamless — like you brought a bit of your best setup with you.

Because let’s be honest: the bag you carry shouldn’t just hold your stuff — it should carry your calm too.
